(Minghui.org) Practitioners participated in Newark Nite on the evening of June 5, 2026. After an eight-year pause, Newark Nite, which began in 1986, resumed with street performances, games, food, family activities, etc., drawing thousands of people to the popular community event.
Many people stopped at the Falun Dafa booth and some learned the exercises. Some brought their families and friends to learn. Eight Chinese quit the communist organizations they joined after they heard how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Dafa.

Practitioners introduced Falun Dafa during Newark Nite.
Brittany Collins, a mental health counselor, did the Falun Dafa exercises with her mother and child. She said, “I love it. I feel relaxed and grounded. I came with a lot of energy, but it was not the energy I wanted. Now I feel I’m able to be more productive.”
Brittany said she’d look at the Falun Dafa website and invite practitioners to teach at her workplace about truthfulness, compassion, and the exercises.
Dr. Dave Redlawsk, chair of Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware, said he saw Shen Yun two years ago and was amazed. “I thought it was really well done! I learned a lot from it.” Referring to the suppression of Shen Yun by the Chinese Communist Party, Dr. Redlawsk said he certainly didn’t want to see anyone persecuted.
Many people signed a petition calling for the senate to pass the Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act, which would sanction individuals and entities involved in forced organ harvesting in China.
Local resident Edi Avoic and his wife signed the petition and told practitioners they had previously heard about the persecution and the CCP’s organ harvesting.
Edi said, “It’s a basic human right to have, a right of mankind to have authority over his own body. Taking that away from people without their consent, whether or not they are violent or peaceful, is not proper. Just because they don’t use force to defend themselves doesn’t mean they should be deprived of that basic inviolate God-given way. So, it’s not something given to us by men. It’s something given to us by God.”
Edi Avoic and his family support practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution.
Commenting on religious freedom, Edi said, “It should be recognized everywhere... It doesn’t need to be limited by any centralized religion or government, as long as it [the religion] doesn’t harm people.” He said he hoped their signatures on the petition help end the persecution.
