(Minghui.org) The Tian Guo Marching Band and Falun Dafa practitioners were again invited to participate in the Grand Floral Starlight Parade which was held on June 6, 2026, in Portland, Oregon. The annual event was well received by local residents and the Falun Dafa float received a Grand Marshal Award as the Best Non-Commercial Float.
The parade is the highlight of the Portland Rose Festival which takes place from late May through mid-June. The organizer said the Grand Floral Parade was combined with the Starlight Parade into one Grand Floral Starlight Parade for an unforgettable celebration. At 6:30 p.m., a variety of floats, marching bands, equestrian teams, and community groups made their appearance, and as night fell, brilliantly illuminated floats and spectacular evening performances started at 8:30.
It has been four years since the Tian Guo Marching Band performed in Portland. As the band played melodies such as “Falun Dafa Is Good,” their unique costumes, synchronized marching, and spirited performance won applause from the crowd. Many people waved to the band members and took pictures or videos as they passed.

The practitioners’ float was a Falun Dafa boat and was praised by spectators. Traditional Chinese landscape scenes in shades of purple and trimmed in shimmering gold, the float exuded an air of elegance and grandeur. The deck was adorned with lotus udumbara flowers—the udumbara flower is said to bloom only once every three thousand years.

The golden sail rose and fell as the float moved along the parade route, and looked as though it were riding the wind and waves. Practitioners dressed as celestial maidens sat on lotus flower pedestals and their robes fluttered in the wind. Falun Dafa practitioners dressed in golden yellow costumes demonstrated the exercises in the center of the vessel. With a backdrop of melodious music and brilliant lights, the boat radiated an atmosphere of peace and serenity.
The float was met with applause and praise. “Falun Dafa!” some people exclaimed, and many followed along with the practitioners’ exercise movements. Impressed by the graceful and grand design, some people bowed to the float or pressed their palms together in heshi to show their appreciation.
Some children gave practitioners a “high five.” Each time the sail rose on the float, the crowd gasped in amazement.

Practitioners also had information booths during the festival, to introduce Falun Dafa. One host said this beautiful group brings us Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Local media Fox12 and KGW live-streamed the parade and it was viewed by thousands. The host from Fox12 said the Falun Dafa float brought us relaxation and peace.
After winning the prize for Best Non-Commercial Float in 2024, the Falun Dafa float received the award again in the 2026 parade.
