(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Ping, 70, in Laizhou City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to three and a half years on May 28, 2026, because she practices Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang, a retired bookstore employee, was arrested on December 10, 2025, after talking to a man about Falun Gong on the street. He grabbed her and reported her to the police. Agents from the Laizhou City Domestic Security Office raided her home and put her at the Yantai City Detention Center. Yantai oversees Laizhou.
It is unclear when Ms. Wang was indicted or tried.
Past Persecution
Ms. Wang credits Falun Gong, which she took up in 1996, for helping her to cover from superficial gastritis, duodenal ulcer, chronic cholecystitis, intractable neurasthenia, and ankylosing spondylitis (a form of spinal arthritis). After the communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, she held firm to her faith and was repeatedly targeted. Ms. Wang was arrested around 10 p.m. on July 11, 2016, as soon as she returned home. Captain Mao Xubo from the Laizhou City Domestic Security Office and his officers raided her home without producing a search warrant. They confiscated her printer, computer, and Falun Gong books. She was held at the Laizhou City Lockup and was not released until August 4, 2016.
Agents from the Laizhou City Domestic Security Office arrested Ms. Wang again on November 15, 2018, after receiving a tip that she talked to people about Falun Gong at a fair. They sent her to the Yantai City Detention Center.
The local community workers led the police to Ms. Wang’s home on June 9, 2021. She was not there. The police later returned in an unmarked van and waited outside. They seized her after 5 p.m. when she returned home. Officer Yang Qinglin raided her home and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong. Ms. Wang was taken to a brainwashing center and held there for an unknown amount of time.
