(Minghui.org) I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1999. I do my best to be a good person as Master taught us. I always try to help my neighbors. They know that Falun Dafa is great and protects me from persecution.
My neighbor Hongping has a young child. Her mother-in-law doesn’t want to babysit. Hongping sent her child to my home when she needed to run errands. Her husband works as a driver and is often out of town. My husband and I help her lift heavy things.
Ever since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, TV and radio programs slander Falun Dafa and claim that practitioners commit suicide and ruin their families. I told the vendors who came to our village the truth about Falun Dafa, but they still believe what’s on TV.
Hongping told them, “Don’t believe in those programs! Look at her [me]. She practices Falun Dafa, and she is great! She works hard and takes great care of the elderly. She doesn’t kill, as the TV programs claim.” After hearing Hongping’s words, the vendors took my truth clarification brochures to read.
Whenever Hongping sees me talk to people about quitting Communist organizations, she always helps me by telling them, “Go ahead and quit. What she says is true!”
My brother came to visit me, but I wasn’t home. My brother asked Hongping where I was. Hongping hadn’t met my brother before. She thought a Communist Party official came to harass me, so she yelled, “Why are you looking for her? I don’t know where she is. Don’t you have anything better to do?” Totally stunned, my brother hurried to explain, “I’m her brother.” Hongping was embarrassed. “Sorry, I thought you were from the Communist Party Committee. She is in her vegetable garden.”
I have another neighbor named Xiyan. Her husband has a bad back, so Xiyan has to do most of the heavy labor. Her parents-in-law aren’t nice to her, and her husband also abuses her verbally. Xiyan often wept and said she was thinking of divorce. I told her, “I hope things improve as your children grow up. They need an unbroken family.” Xiyan hasn’t mentioned divorce since then.
Xiyan had surgery during the harvest season. Her father-in-law was hospitalized, and her husband went to take care of his father. No one in the family was available to harvest the corn. My husband and I contacted a few neighbors, and we harvested it. One time, Xiyan was in the hospital, and her husband was home by himself. Knowing that he couldn’t cook, I asked my husband to send him some food I prepared.
When Xiyan’s sister-in-law visited them, I brought her some truth-clarification brochures. Xiyan’s husband pointed at me and said, “She is so nice! When your sister-in-law was hospitalized, mother didn’t cook for me. She sent me food. I’ll disagree if anyone says Falun Dafa isn’t good. You have to remember, ‘Falun Dafa is great, and Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are great!’” His sister kept nodding and looked at me in appreciation.
Xiuzhen, another neighbor, is a straightforward person. Because she had three daughters, her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law looked down on her and didn’t want to help her watch her children. Xiuzhen is kept busy all the time. When her kids had nowhere to go after school, I took them home and fed them. I also helped Xiuzhen with chores she couldn’t handle by herself.
All my neighbors quit the Communist organizations. We often chat with each other and share happy things. Xiyan’s laughter is the loudest. Xiuzhen said the whole village can hear us laugh. We often share our good food with each other, too.
All my neighbors try to protect me from the persecution. The local police and Chinese Communist Party Committee members came to my home right before the the New Year in 2000, attempting to get my signature on a guarantee statement. I refused to sign. They threatened to arrest me and demolish my house.
I told my husband, “I can’t allow them to abduct me. If they demolish our house, I’d rather be a beggar than stop practicing.” My husband nodded. He is supportive of my cultivation. I left home on a snowy day. My neighbor heard what happened. They volunteered to help my husband move our harvest to their houses so it wouldn’t get confiscated.
A couple of months later, a man who claimed to be the Deputy Mayor of our township came to my home. He told me to go to the Communist Party Committee office to watch a video about self-immolation on Tiananmen Square. I said, “I won’t. It’s fake. Master told us not to kill. Those who set themselves on fire must not be Falun Dafa practitioners.” The man replied, “I’m here to tell you to go. If you don’t, the police will come get you the day after tomorrow.” After he left, I made up my mind not to be taken away.
On the morning a couple of days later, I was about to close the door after my husband left for work, and my son left for school, when my brother came, carrying a bag of truth-clarification brochures. He is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. I asked, “Why did you come today? They are sending the police to come get me.” Soon after he came in, a police car stopped at my door, and some policemen knocked.
My brother and I took the truth-clarification brochures and jumped over the fence to my neighbor Xiyan’s home. Xiyan’s mother-in-law took our brochures and hid them. I jumped over another fence to Hongping’s home. Hongping said, “Don’t worry. Stay here and don’t leave.” Hongping went out to look. The policemen didn’t leave until noon. I returned to my home after they left. My brother also returned home safely.
One day in the winter of 2009, my fellow practitioner and I were abducted to a police station when we clarified the truth to people on the street. My husband was worried and went to look for me. The authorities from the 610 Office and the police department tried to search my home. Seeing that my door was locked, they jumped from my neighbor Xiuzhen’s roof to my roof and entered my yard.
Xiuzhen noticed that a group of men entered my yard through her roof. She climbed to her rooftop and shouted, “Who are you? Why do you enter while they are away?” They said, “Hush! We are the police.” Xiuzhen replied, “Police? You look like bandits. Get out of here!” They said uneasily, “Don’t shout!” Xiuzhen continued to shout, “Hi, everyone! Come and look! Xiaobin’s home has been broken into.”
My neighbors came out when they heard her. Some shouted, “Kill them!” “Hand me a shovel!” “Come on, don’t stop me!” The policemen left in embarrassment.
They went to get the head of our village and forced him to take them to search our home. My husband returned by the time they came back. He locked the gate after they entered the front yard and said, “I’ve been looking for you! You came at the right time! None of you can get out unless my wife is released!” The local policemen had previously talked with him and knew his temperament. They were so scared of my husband that they climbed on the rooftop.
Those from the 610 Office didn’t know my husband. The leader said, “We are from the city police department. Your wife distributed brochures and violated the law.”
My husband replied, “Distributing brochures doesn’t violate any law. You are the ones who have violated the law! Jiang Zemin [the head of the CCP who launched the persecution] has been sued in other countries, but you are still following his policy to persecute good people. Everyone of you will be punished! Come get me if you aren’t afraid of death! I’m not!” None of them dared to fight with my husband.
They eventually wrote a guarantee to my husband, promising to release me. I was taken home by my husband that evening. They also released my fellow practitioner. It was a tough battle between good and evil that day.
My neighbors were thrilled to see me the next morning. They told me what happened the day before. Xiyan told me, “Uncle [my husband] did great! His voice could be heard by the whole village. He told them, ‘My wife is a good person! If you don’t release her, none of you can leave here!” She laughed loudly.
One day in May 2023, Xiuzhen’s husband called my husband and said, “The police came to your door, but left after seeing you weren’t home. I happened to be working near the greenhouse, so I locked the door to your greenhouse. They came to look, but left after seeing the door was locked.” Another attempt to persecute practitioners was blocked under Master’s protection.
My neighbors learned the benefits of Falun Dafa and chose to stand with the righteous. They will be blessed by Falun Dafa. I hope more people will learn the truth and be blessed.
