(Minghui.org) Mr. Chen Qing’s son and friends lost contact with him in July 2024 and learned two months later that he was arrested again for practicing Falun Gong. They found out recently that he was admitted to prison in late December 2025 to serve a 3.5-year term.
Mr. Chen, in his 60s and a retiree of the Shaanxi Carbide Tool Factory, lives alone in Mian County, Shaanxi Province. He has been repeatedly targeted since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999. He was given an unknown term of forced labor in early 2002. His wife struggled to care for their young son while working full time to support the family.
Mr. Chen was questioned by the police on September 26, 2013, and arrested the next day. He was transferred to the Mian County Detention Center in December that year. Two weeks later he was transferred to a brainwashing center. Before he was released, he was forced to pay an unknown amount of money to the police.
Mr. Chen was arrested on March 16, 2017, and held at the Mian County Detention Center for ten days. After he was released, his factory threatened to put him in a brainwashing center. He was forced to live away from home for a while.
His wife’s health declined due to stress because he was relentlessly persecuted. She died in the early 2020s.
A group of people from the Mian County Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) went to Mr. Chen’s home on May 18, 2023, and warned him to not layover in Xi’an because central government leaders were to visit the capital city of Shaanxi Province.
It was clear to Mr. Chen that the PLAC people found out through surveillance that he booked flights to a southern city to attend his son’s wedding. Instead of allowing him to layover in Xi’an (which is about four hours drive from Mian County), they took him to the Hanzhong Chenggu Airport against his will and forced him to change his flights.
About eight officers from the Mian County Domestic Security Office and the Wuhou Police Station scaled Mr. Chen’s balcony on August 3, 2023, and broke in. They discovered Falun Gong materials at a certain location and suspected him of distributing them. They detained him for 13 days and put him under surveillance afterwards.
Three officers from the Chengxi Police Station harassed Mr. Chen at home around December 2, 2023. They ordered him to sign some paperwork, and he refused.
Mr. Chen was arrested in late July 2024, and is now serving a 3.5-year term at the Weinan Prison. The details of his arrest, indictment, trial, and sentencing remain unknown.
