(Minghui.org) A 56-year-old woman in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, is facing trial for practicing Falun Gong. Her daughter was detained for 10 days for seeking her release.

Ms. Yang Lichun was arrested on April 15, 2026, after she was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. The arresting officers from the Bohai Street Police Station submitted her case to the Lianshan District Procuratorate, which indicted her and submitted her case to the Lianshan District Court. Judge Wang Yueqiu was assigned to the case.

Ms. Yang’s daughter, Ms. Gao Yang, wrote to the Bohai Street Police Station officers, urging them to release her mother. The police forwarded the letter to their supervising agency, the Lianshan District Police Department.

Officer Guo Xudong from the police department called Ms. Gao, ordering her to report to them for some questioning. It is unclear whether she went. The police suddenly showed up at her workplace on July 8, 2026, and arrested the younger woman. She was detained for ten days. Her mother is still awaiting trial at the Huludao City Detention Center.

Past Persecution

Ms. Yang, born in January 1970, used to work for the Huludao Non-ferrous Metals Group Company. She took up Falun Gong in 2003, four years after the communist regime started persecuting this ancient mind-body practice.

Ms. Yang filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong. Upon learning of her complaint, the police arrested her on June 15, 2017. Ms. Gao was detained for five days because she tried to stop the police from arresting her mother. Ms. Yang was later sentenced to one year in prison.

Ms. Yang was also arrested several years before, on January 2, 2014, and detained for 15 days.
