(Minghui.org) Six women in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, have been detained for months for their shared faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.

Ms. Niu Guifang

Ms. Niu Guifang, 64, was arrested at home around 6 a.m. on August 27, 2025. Several officers from the Hushitai Police Station staked out outside her apartment and snatched the key from a family member when he went out. They beat Ms. Niu during the arrest, causing her nose and mouth to bleed. Her Falun Gong books and informational materials were confiscated.

Ms. Niu was tried by the Dadong District Court on March 11, 2026. Her family called the police in May to inquire about her case and was told that a second hearing would be scheduled soon.

Ms. Meng Chenxia

Ms. Meng Chenxia was arrested on November 11, 2025, by officers from the Hushitai Police Station. She has been held at the Shenyang City First Detention Center since. The police refused to provide her family with any update on her case.

Ms. Qiu Tieyan

Ms. Qiu Tieyan, 66, was arrested between the afternoon of January 5 and the morning of January 6, 2026. She is also detained at the Shenyang City First Detention Center. Her family has been kept in the dark about her case status.

One month before Ms. Qiu’s arrest, the police installed a surveillance device near her home. The persecution caused tremendous mental distress to her family.

Ms. Zhou Yuyun

Ms. Zhou Yuyun was arrested on January 16, 2026, while talking to people about Falun Gong at a community fair. Her home was ransacked. She has been detained incommunicado since.

Ms. Zhou’s mother, who is in her 80s and relied on her for care after becoming incapacitated due to a stroke, is now in a dire situation.

Ms. Niu Guihua and Ms. Qu Lihong

Ms. Niu Guihua and Ms. Qu Lihong were arrested on February 7, 2026. They are held at the Shenyang City First Detention Center and were issued formal arrest warrants in mid-March 2026.
