(Minghui.org) In today’s fast-paced society, many people emphasize the importance of cultivating empathy as a way to become considerate and reduce interpersonal conflict.
On June 20, 2026, the Zevedei family was drawn to some values that they believe could help people become more empathetic.
At a booth set up in Brasov by Falun Dafa practitioners to introduce Romanians to their spiritual discipline, the Zevedei family—along with many other Romanians—heard about Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and how practitioners strive to live by them. They were also given a chance to support Falun Dafa practitioners and these values by signing a petition to stop the persecution of Falun Dafa in China by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The Values of Falun Dafa Make Society Altruistic
Dana Zevedei, who is a mother and a chemist, society today is too “individualistic,” which results in people becoming selfish and competitive in their relationships with other people.
By following the values of Falun Dafa, she adds that “it would change a lot. We would be much calmer, more positive, more giving, more empathetic. If more people followed these principles in their daily lives, society would be better and people would be more concerned about those around them.”
Her husband Paul Zevedei said the values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance should be applied globally. “The society of all countries would change if these three rules were applied. We hope to change something ourselves, a little at a time. We are trying to achieve good things.”
The Zevedei family said they were drawn to Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance at the information booth in Brasov on June 20, 2026.
Dana said that she had heard of human rights violations in China via some of her Chinese colleagues, who showed her footage they had taken from within in China that shows “certain things that shouldn’t be happening, outside of the positive images that we see everywhere [of China.]” She heard about Falun Dafa and its persecution through YouTube videos.
She feels the persecution of Falun Dafa affects all people. “I think it’s like a war against humanity. I feel sorry for [the practitioners]. I stand with them,” she said.
To her, what the practitioners are doing in standing up for their beliefs is “beautiful” and “courageous.”
“I encourage you to continue. I am convinced that there are many people who think like you, or like me,” said Dana.
Paul echoed her sentiment. “Drop by drop you reach an ocean. You have to keep going and results will surely appear,” he said.
Awareness Is the First Step to Ending the Persecution
Maria, Dana and Paul’s daughter, also signed the petition after she read the banner, “A signature can save a life” posted on the petition booth. She felt that it was a significant action to help the practitioners in China.
“Even if I can’t be there with them physically to do a relief campaign, I think a signature can change the situation, it can bring awareness,” she said. “Getting the word out worldwide is the first step to making things better.”
Maria expressed her empathy for Falun Gong practitioners in China and hope they have a bright future.
The peacefulness of the practitioners’ event stood out to her, as it was juxtaposed against the severe human rights abuses inflicted by the CCP on practitioners in China. Maria admired the practitioners’ dedication to peaceful resistance.
“Many times, it’s not violence that changes things. Many times when we go with kindness, compassion, and such good energy, and we want a better future for others, but not through malice and war, we may have more and better results,” she said.
Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance Are Divine Virtues
Remus Morar, who works with electromechanics, was so touched by the plight of Falun Dafa practitioners in China that he almost came to tears.
“I care about the Chinese people, the country of China. We love and support them,” he said.
As a Christian, Morar was shocked to hear about the forced organ harvesting going on in China that targets Falun Dafa practitioners and other prisoners of conscience. To him, forced organ harvesting was a demonic act.
“I feel like crying,” he said. “We pray to God to stop these persecutions, and I know that this is what the ‘evil one’ is doing: to continue the persecution, to kill innocent people.” He said the choice to support practitioners is not just support for Falun Dafa, but also support for what was universally good and divine.
“Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance, very cool! All of them are important, because [through them,] God has set us free,” said Morar. “Let [people] open their hearts to God. If people listen [to practitioners], they win. If you don’t have mercy, it doesn’t matter who you believe in!”
He said that he will continue to pray for the practitioners in China and hopes that the persecution ends.
While he talked with practitioners, he received a phone call from a Romanian friend living in the US. He handed his phone to a practitioner so his friend could also learn about Falun Dafa and the persecution.
Before he left, Morar encouraged practitioners, saying, “Falun Dafa—for a beautiful and better life!”
