(Minghui.org) Two women in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, were recently sentenced to prison because they practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Gao Xia, 56, and Ms. Song Lijie, 69, were arrested on October 14, 2025, by agents from the Taihe District Domestic Security Office. The police revealed that they had been following Ms. Song for over a month before making the arrests. The Falun Gong books and other personal items confiscated from the two women’s homes were used as prosecution evidence against them.
Minghui.org recently confirmed that Ms. Gao was sentenced to two years, and she is still held at the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center; Ms. Song was given a one-year term and was admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison around March 2026. Details about their indictment, trial, or sentencing are unclear.
Ms. Gao’s arrest dealt a hard blow to her elderly mother, who relied on her for care. Their family had to send the elderly woman to a nursing home. Ms. Gao’s mother-in-law, in her 80s and incapacitated, experienced a worsening heart condition after her arrest.
Ms. Gao’s husband was intimidated by the police, who threatened to arrest him when he refused to provide information about her practice of Falun Gong. He experienced elevated blood pressure and also a heart condition.
Both Ms. Gao and Ms. Song took up Falun Gong to improve their health. Ms. Gao recovered from her severe insomnia and constipation. Ms. Song’s many ailments, including lumbar disc bone hyperplasia, frozen shoulder, and chronic headaches, also disappeared.
