(Minghui.org) A 73-year-old woman in Changchun City, Jilin Province, was sentenced to eighteen months and fined 5,000 yuan because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Han Yujie’s wrongful conviction stemmed from her arrest at a park on August 4, 2024, together with five other local Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Han was released on bail two hours later. The police broke into her home on November 17, 2024, but she managed to escape. They returned ten days later but failed to find her because she was still living away from home.
Officers from the Xinlong Police Station in Changchun City arrested Ms. Han on July 10, 2025. At the time, she was working as a house aide at a home in Nongan County, which is under the administration of Changchun.
Ms. Han was taken to the Changchun City Detention Center. Her family was denied visits with her and not given any updates of her situation.
The Kuancheng District Court held a secret hearing of Ms. Han’s case at the detention center in June 2026. She was soon sentenced to one and a half years and fined 5,000 yuan.
Two of the other five practitioners arrested together with Ms. Han had already been sentenced in 2025. Ms. Zheng Lijie was sentenced to three years but allowed to postpone serving time due to her poor health. Ms. Zhang Cuiqin was given one year and her term ended. See the related report for details of their prosecution.
