(Minghui.org) I used to have multiple illnesses and I took many medications. My body was frail, and my suffering was unbearable. In 2006, I began reciting the auspicious phrases “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” and experienced significant physical and mental benefits. After I began practicing Falun Dafa in 2008, my illnesses disappeared. When he saw my transformation, my husband didn’t object to my practicing Falun Dafa.

My husband and I have different personalities. He is loyal, honest, and genuine. He works hard and treats others well. However, he has a poor memory and is sometimes careless. In contrast, I have a good memory and I’m thorough and meticulous in everything I do.

Because of our different personalities, before I became a practitioner, I often lost my temper with him, but he seldom complained or argued with me.

One morning, about six months after I began practicing Falun Dafa, I noticed my husband did something wrong. As usual, my anger rose, and I scolded him loudly. He didn’t say a word, He just finished his breakfast and left for work.

Soon my stomach felt uncomfortable, so I went to my room to rest. As soon as I lay down, the pain became increasingly intense. I curled up, pressing my hands against my abdomen. The pain was unbearable, unlike anything I ever experienced before.

I needed to look inward to understand why this was happening. As I reflected on the situation, I clearly understood that it was caused by my unkind behavior toward my husband, resentment, and lack of patience.

Master said,“In cultivation one needs to eliminate karma, and that is painful.”(Cultivation Insanity,” Zhuan Falun)

Master is truly wise. Not only did his words help me, but I immediately understood what I did wrong. I realized that the pain was retribution for the karma I just created. I told myself that I must eliminate my attachments.

However, it wasn’t easy. I encountered many issues in the days that followed, and I did my best to control myself and gradually weaken those attachments.

Our Situations Reversed

One day in October 2018, my husband suddenly flew into a rage. Afterward, he completely ignored me. He refused to let the matter drop, and deliberately did things he shouldn’t have.

Faced with his unreasonable outbursts, I reminded myself, “I am a practitioner; I must be tolerant.” In cultivation, nothing happens by chance. I looked within. Had I not shown him enough consideration? Had I hurt him in some way? For a while I couldn’t figure out why this was happening.

Suddenly, the words “looking down on others” popped into my mind. I understood that Master was letting me know that I had a condescending attitude toward my husband.

Now that I identified my attachment, what should I do next? When he does something wrong, I should control myself, adjust my mindset, stay calm, and speak to him kindly. It was difficult at first, but I tempered my behavior. I also asked Master to help me eliminate my deep-seated attachment of looking down on others.

I realized that as a practitioner, each level has different standards and requirements, and different human attachments must be let go of.

I gradually realized that our different personalities often lead to conflicts as we navigate life together. As a cultivator, I know this as a good thing.

My Husband Helps Me Improve

One day in September 2021, I sensed something was wrong. My husband did nothing but play on his phone and watch TV, with the volume turned up very loud. He wore a long face and said nothing.

The next day his behavior was the same. It was unbearable. If this had happened before I practiced Falun Dafa, I would have argued with him and refused to put up with his behavior. But as a practitioner, I knew I couldn’t feel annoyed, let alone lose my temper.

I began reciting Master’s poem,“As a cultivatorOne always looks for one’s own faults’Tis the Way to get rid of attachments most effectivelyThere’s no way to skip ordeals, big or small[During a conflict, if you can remember:]“He’s right,And I’m Wrong,”What’s to dispute?(“Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong,” Hong Yin III)

I reminded myself to follow Master’s teaching, look within to find my attachments, and eliminate them.

After a moment of quiet reflection, the phrase “stubbornly clinging to one’s opinions” came to mind. I immediately understood my husband’s behavior. Two days earlier, there had been a minor issue at home. I had not taken my husband’s advice and had insisted on doing things my way.

I couldn’t help but press my palms together and thank Master once again for his compassionate guidance.

I further realized that the various inappropriate behaviors my husband showed in daily life are used by Master to foster my cultivation. They are opportunities to eliminate human attachments at different levels. They are not meant to make me angry, lose my temper, feel disdain, or harbor resentment. Rather, they are to help me increase my forbearance, elevate my spiritual realm, and gradually meet the standards and requirements set for me at different levels. Only then can my gong increase.

Therefore, I must make the most of every opportunity, remain calm and clear-headed at all times, and keep every thought, word, and deed on the right path. I will not ignore Master’s well-intentioned arrangements. I will earnestly face every challenge and strive to be a true practitioner.

As my attachments gradually diminished and my xinxing improved, my husband also began to change. He became more tolerant and generous, and even took on household chores, allowing me to devote more time practicing.

The above are some preliminary insights I’ve had from two experiences on my cultivation path. Please kindly point out anything that is inappropriate.
