(Minghui.org) I encountered Falun Dafa when I was injured in a bus accident nine years ago and have practiced it ever since.
About 40 to 50 people, including me, took a bus to work on a farm. The driver drove too fast, and when he passed a tricycle, he lost control. The bus toppled down a steep embankment.
We were thrown about before the bus slammed into a tree midway down the slope. One person died while most of the others were seriously injured. A woman in her 50s stood up and appeared to be unharmed. I asked her for help because I had a deep cut on my arm.
She helped me get out of the wreckage and said, “In times of danger, remember 'Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.' This will guarantee your safety!”
That piqued my interest, so I obtained a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Dafa. I learned that Dafa is a cultivation system and follows the fundamental law of the universe. I also learned the true meaning of human existence and how we can improve our moral standards and nurture compassion.
The Most Trustworthy Employee
I took a job inspecting and bundling ice cream sticks in 2006. The quality inspection officer praised my work. “Only the items you pack are always of high quality,” he said. “You are the most trustworthy person in this factory.”
When it was time for the factory to select its “model worker,” the quality inspection officer and factory leaders unanimously recommended me. I said, “As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I care little for fame or profit and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. You should award the prize to someone else!” But they insisted on giving me an honorary certificate and 500 yuan.
This money allowed me to treat my co-workers to a meal and was a great opportunity for me to tell them the facts about Falun Dafa. I asked them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliates, and some indeed quit.
Beaten and Arrested
I started to slack off in my cultivation around the time of the 2008 Olympics. I did not take Fa-study seriously and ignored any hints that pointed to my attachments.
As a result, officers from the local police station and domestic security division ransacked my home. I was arrested and sentenced to 18 months of forced labor.
The head of domestic security interrogated me and wanted to know who gave me the Falun Dafa books and why I practiced Dafa. He punched me and slapped me with wet towels.
I did not realize that this was an opportunity to talk to him about the practice. Instead I asked him, “Aren’t you afraid of retribution?” to which he responded, “Retribution from whom?”
“Retribution from heaven!” I responded.
After my release from the labor camp, I was told that this officer had died of cancer. I regret that I missed an opportunity to tell him the facts and awaken his conscience.
Opportunities in the Labor Camp
Two inmates in the labor camp fought over a bottle of hot water. In a fit of anger, one of them hurled the bottle at the other and scalded her neck and down her chest. Large blisters developed and she could not wear anything, including over her breasts.
One of the team leaders asked her if she felt no shame. She just said that she could not wear anything over the blisters.
This gave a few of the other practitioners and me the opportunity to talk about Falun Dafa. We drew parallels to the anomalies in the staged Tiananmen Square self-immolation footage: Although victim Liu Siying was burned, she was wrapped tightly in layers of gauze, contrary to usual medical practices and common sense.
The team leader contemplated our analysis in silence. Encouraged, we added, “The CCP has ruled with violence for decades, killed countless Chinese citizens, and harmed many others during its political campaigns. Do not be deceived by false illusions or temptations of financial reward. Those who continue to persecute good people will invite retribution.”
Visibly moved, she listened and then left. After some time, I heard that she had quit the CCP with a pseudonym and switched jobs.
