(Minghui.org) Ms. Du Penyang, a retired doctor from the Pan Steel Group Hospital in Chengdu City, could not go home for the recent Chinese New Year holiday celebration.
Ms. Du Penyang, a Falun Gong practitioner in her 70s, left home to avoid further persecution from the police. Here is her account:
Illegal Treatment
While eating breakfast on July 17, 2014, a group of officers broke into my house. I recognized the Lianxin Police Station chief Yuan Yong. There were also police from the local community station, the Jinjiang District Police Department, and the 610 Office. Present with them were others that I did not recognize.
Without my permission, they searched my home. They found some Falun Gong related materials and confiscated them. Chief Yuan called for more police and some local community personnel to come for support. They restrained me and interrogated me—they wanted to know who else helped me with the Falun Gong materials. They also wanted me to operate the computer, but I refused.
Yuan and the police ransacked my home for three hours. A dozen police took away anything they felt related to Falun Gong or the production of Falun Gong materials. They also destroyed Master Li Hongzhi's poems that hung on the wall.
My 6-year-old grandson was home with me at the time of this break-in. He was so scared that he could not stop crying. He cried out, “You are bad people!” And indeed, these officers acted more like criminals than the overseers of the law. Some officers, however, noticed the horror of their behavior and even stopped ransacking for a while. Some were unrestrained no matter what and even suggested that my grandson be sent away.
When they finished their ransacking, they arrested me and took me to the Lianxin Police Station. At the station, I did not give them a confession, but I kept telling them the truth about Falun Gong. Later, they transferred me to the Chengdu City Detention Center.
The detention center refused to accept me, and that very night, the police had to let me go home. But a few days later, the Lianxin police station chief Yuan led a group of officers to break into my home again to try and force me sign some documents. I refused to cooperate.
The police kept harassing me and my entire family in the coming nights. I decided to leave home in order to avoid further harassment and persecution for myself and my family.
When the police ransacked my home, they took a set of 44 Falun Gong books, four of Master Li's photos, dozens of Falun Gong truth-clarifying DVDs and booklets, two desktop computers, one laptop computer, seven printers, two DVD burners, two MP3 players, and many other accessories.
