(Minghui.org) The Chiayi County Council passed a resolution supporting the current lawsuits against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin on March 25, 2016. The resolution was sponsored by council members Lin Hxiu-Chin and Cai Ding-san. Jiang is the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) who abused his power in initiating and directing the now nearly 17-year persecution of Falun Gong.
The Chiayi County Council passes a resolution supporting the lawsuits against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin. The large poster in the center screen reads “Global support for Chinese people's lawsuits against Jiang Zemin for his crimes in the persecution of Falun Gong.”
The resolution stated, “To safeguard the universal human rights, we support Chinese people's lawsuits against the former CCP head Jiang Zemin for his crimes against humanity in the persecution of Falun Gong. We call on the Chinese government to immediately stop the persecution of Falun Gong and terminate the forced live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners based on its pledge of 'rule by law' to the international community. At the same time, we call on our government to prohibit any people involved in illegal human organ harvesting to enter Taiwan and expel those who have already entered.”
The resolution was co-signed by council members Shi Hsin-chung, Ye Meng-lung, Chen Bao-ren, Lin Mu-hui, He Ci-fan, Guo Fang-yi, Lai Chao-lun, Chang Gui-chung. The resolution was passed in its original form without objection and sent to the Chiayi Government to adopt it and take action.
At a press conference, Council Member Cai Ding-san, Shi Hsin-chung and He Ci-fan expressed their strong support for the lawsuits against Jiang.
Council Member Cai Ding-san said, “Falun Gong is a cultivation group pursuing the freedom to practice. The CCP conducts live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. It is an inhuman act. I call on the CCP to immediately stop the persecution of Falun Gong.” He also called on the international community to support Falun Gong.
Council Member Shi Hsin-chung stated, “The Chinese government should safeguard human rights and respect people's freedom.”
Council Member He Ci-fan said, “Jiang Zemin has infringed on Falun Gong practitioners' human rights. I call on all Chinese people to step forward and file lawsuits against Jiang for his crimes.”
Last year, six county councils in Taiwan including Kaohsiung, Taichung, Yunlin, Hualian, Taitung, and Yilan passed resolutions to support the lawsuits against Jiang. Currently, most people in Taiwan are aware the CCP's brutal persecution of Falun Gong.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
As of this writing, more than 200,000 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members have filed criminal complaints against Jiang to the Chinese Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court.
