(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhang Xinjiang was sentenced to three years in May 16, 2013, for practicing Falun Gong. His sentence has expired, but his whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Zhang, 49, from Heba Town, Yiyang City, Hunan Province had been held at the Wangling Prison in You County, Zhuzhou City.
Repeatedly Arrested for His Belief
Mr. Zhang has been arrested many times since the former leader of the Chinese Communist Party Jiang Zemin launched the suppression of Falun Gong in July 1999. He was sent to a labor camp three times for a total of nearly five years.
After the persecution began, Ms. Zhang went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in December 23, 2000. He was arrested at Tiananmen Square and detained for 30 days.
He was taken back to the local detention center soon after, and was sent to a labor camp for two years. He was held for an additional five months after his term finished because he refused to give up his belief.
Mr. Zhang was arrested again in December 2003 and given one and a half years of forced labor for persisting in his belief.
He was tortured by officer Liu Yong while detained at the Datonghu Police Station in Yiyang City in March 2008. Liu used cigarettes to burn Mr. Zhang's body.
Mr. Zhang was arrested again in February 2010 and was given one year and nine months of forced labor. He was detained 25 days longer for not giving up his belief.
