In 2021, it was recorded that 132 Falun Gong practitioners died as a result of the persecution, 1,187 practitioners were sentenced, and 16,413 were arrested and harassed. Among them, many were professionals, including a retired colonel, government official, researchers, college professors, bankers, engineers, accountants, lawyers, and doctors.
