Ms. Wang Guilan, a resident of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, died on October 24, 2017. She was 70.

Her death capped her decades of persecution for practicing Falun Gong. She was given one year of forced labor around 2000. She was arrested again at around 9:30 p.m. on May 1, 2007, after Zhao Weishun and Dong Shijun reported her for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in their village. Officers Zhang Mingwei and Cui Yulong from the Pingluo Police Station raided her home. She was soon given one and a half years of forced labor.

The Masanjia Labor Camp guards subjected Ms. Wang to various forms of torture. She had leg and back pain and was unable to straighten her hands as a result.

Ms. Wang was arrested again at around 3 p.m. on April 17, 2012, after a woman reported her for talking to her about Falun Gong. She stood trial at an unknown time. Her husband was shocked to see she was emaciated and even struggled to open her eyes during the hearing. The Tiexi District Court sentenced her to three years at the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.

The prison held Ms. Wang at a division for infirm and elderly inmates. Her health never recovered after she was released in 2015. She had to squat and take a rest after a few steps of walking. The police harassed her on the phone frequently. One year later, her health suddenly worsened, and the police still ordered her child to report to them to verify her health condition. She died on October 24, 2017.
