A 74-year-old resident of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, died on October 28, 2022, while under house arrest for practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang Xibin suffered repeated persecution over the past two-plus decades. She served two prison terms totaling 6.5 years (June 2001 – June 2004 and June 2009 – September 2012) and one forced labor term of two years and two months (December 2004 – February 2007) in between her prison terms. She was also held at a brainwashing center for one month at an unknown time. See the related report for her own account of the persecution.

When she was not in detention, Ms. Wang faced constant harassment from the police. On December 10, 2020, the Lingkong Police Station officers took her for a physical examination. She was found to have a shadow on the lung and sent home. The police, however, returned the next day and forced her to undergo another checkup. The chest x-ray result remained the same and the police put her under house arrest and ordered her to report to them any time they summoned her.

The Tiexi District Procuratorate called Ms. Wang on March 25, 2021, and ordered her to report to them the next day. She did not go and a person surnamed Li called her son and asked why. Li threatened to have police arrest her if she did not show up by 5 p.m. that day. It was unclear whether she complied.

The relentless persecution took a toll on her health and she died on October 28, 2022.
