(Minghui.org) Three women in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, were admitted to the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison around February 2026 to serve time for their faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu Qingling Sentenced to 2.5 Years, Now Cancer-Stricken
Ms. Liu Qingling, in her 50s, resides in Meijiang District. She was arrested on April 23, 2025, and sentenced to two and a half years with a 40,000-yuan fine by the Meixian District Court in December 2025. After she was admitted to prison on February 12, 2026, she was diagnosed with breast cancer but unable to receive a surgery because the cancer had spread to her liver.
The prison notified her family to pick her up, but she has not returned home when this report was written. It is unclear if she’s still in jail.
Ms. Huang Hongyu Given An Unknown Term
Ms. Huang Hongyu resides in Meixian District. She was arrested around April 2025 and put in the Chengdong Detention Center. The Meixian District Court sentenced her to an unknown term, and she was admitted to prison around February 2026.
Ms. Xu Qiuzhen Sentenced a Second Time
Ms. Xu Qiuzhen resides in Xiaoling County, which is under the administration of Meizhou City. She was arrested on the afternoon of April 17, 2025, while studying Falun Gong books with three other practitioners. Her guests were released that night, but she remained detained.
The Meixian District Court sentenced Ms. Xu to an unknown term, and she was sent to prison around February 2026.
Ms. Xu was previously arrested on April 28, 2021, by more than ten officers. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, printer, informational materials about Falun Gong, and over 2,000 yuan in cash. She stood trial at the Meixian District Court on October 22, 2021, and was later sentenced to two years and eight months. She was released in 2023.
Her husband, Mr. Zeng Qinglin, also practiced Falun Gong. The couple was arrested on May 23, 2005 in their home while they were asleep. Mr. Zeng was sentenced to three years and served time at the Guangdong Province Third Prison. He died in 2011. He was in his 60s.
